Random News Shit: NBA Trade Deadline Edition

1) Wizards Land Nene
Damn, bad times for Nene, he re-signs with the Nuggets at the start of the season and they ship him off to the 3rd worse team in the league. That's fucked up.

The actual trade was a three-team that sent Nene, Brian Cook and a 2015 2nd round pick to the Wiz, JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf to the Nuggets, and Nick Young to the Clippers. This trade really makes no sense to me for any team but the Clippers. They get a nice young scorer in Nick Young and all they had to give up was Brian Cook and a 2nd-round pick IN 2015! Meanwhile, the Nuggets get the dumbest player in the league in JaVale McGee just 3 days after this hit the net (even though the person who made the video seems to be just as unsmart as JaVale) and Ronny Turiaf, and the Wiz got Nene (who's always hurt), Brian Cook, and a 2nd-round pick IN 2015!!!

2) Lakers Trade Derek Fisher, Trade For Lil Duval Ramon Sessions
First the Lakers acquire Lil Duval Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga for Jason Kapono, Luke Walton and their 2012 1st-round pick, then they shipped Derek Fisher's corpse and the 1st-rounder they got from Dallas to Houston for Jordan Hill. I guess this makes the Lakers better, but nobody could ride the bench quite like Luke Walton. In fact, they should put his old jersey and a towel where he sits in memoriam.

3) Warriors Trade Stephen Jackson To Spurs For Richard Jefferson
Well damn, part 2 of the Stephen Jackson era with Golden State didn't last long at all.

4) Blazers Trade Gerald Wallace To Nets For Mehmet Okur & Shawne Williams
Mehmet Okur is still in the league? I'm dead serious, I thought he retired.

Anyway, good job by the Nets getting Gerald Wallace for scraps, but I doubt it will help them retain Deron Williams.

5) Blazers Trade Marcus Camby To Rockets For Hasheem Thabeet & Jonny Flynn
Speaking of players I didn't know were still in the league, the Blazers just traded for Hasheem Thabeet? They weren't disappointed enough in Greg Oden, they needed to bring in another failed big man? What the fuck?

But there Blazers weren't done there....

6) Blazers Fire Nate McMillan, Waive Greg Oden
Four moves by the Blazers and only cutting Greg Oden made any sense. Then again, tanking and bottoming out is really the only way to get better in the NBA, so maybe this is a great idea. Nah, whoever they draft will have a fucked up future like Sam Bowie and Greg Oden before him.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter On DVR Edition

Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson arrives to warm up before playing against the Denver Nuggets in their NBA basketball game in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, December 7, 2009. Iverson has returned to the 76ers after being traded to the Nuggets in 2006.
More old news, but I wanted to hit it so we can get back to neutral.

1) Allen Iverson To Miss Rest Of Season
This may be it, but for real this time. I don't know how sick is 4 year-old daughter is, but if her illness doesn't clear up, he'll probably never return because family comes first. He shouldn't need the money (emphasis on shouldn't), so this is probably the sad end to a magnificent career. Good luck to A.I. and his little girl, I'm positive this is harder to deal with than any challenges he's ever face in the NBA.

2) LeBron Files Paperwork To Wear No. 6 Next Season
This is so wack to me. I know he's trying to sell the whole "paying homage to Jordan" thing, but I'm not buying it. Legends like Bill Russell and Julius Erving donned the #6 jersey, what they don't deserve homage too?? LeBron is a student of the game, I'm sure he knows all-time greats have worn #6 as well as #23.

I don't get it though. I know I'm not as extreme as Skip Bayless, who thinks Bron is ditching the number to get from under Jordan's shadow of expectations, but there is something else going on. And its NOT just to sell more jerseys, with all the money he's making, jersey sales are probably the least of his concern. Oh well only time will tell, I guess.

3) Hasheem Thabeet Sent Down To D-League
Back in June, a wise man said Hasheem Thabeet was "destined to be Stromile Swift 2.0." I wonder who that wise man was?? Oh yeah, it was me! By being sent down to the D-League, Thabeet becomes the highest draft pick ever to have that done to him. Man, its a good thing they didn't take Tyreke Evans, Steph Curry, or Brandon Jennings with that 2nd overall pick.

Here's an idea, the next time the Grizzlies are in the lottery, maybe they should try avoiding the 2nd overall pick because they are 2 for 2 in #2 pick busts since 2000. First there was Stromile Swift, and now there's Thabeet. (And they didn't exactly have much luck with the #2 overall pick pre-2000 either. They got 3 decent seasons out of 1998 #2 pick Mike Bibby before trading him to Sacramento, but 1999 #2 pick Steve Francis didn't even want to play for the franchise and cried until he forced a trade to Houston.)

4) Ocho Cinco, Andrews On New DWTS Cast
That's right, now Chad Ocho Cinco...I mean, Chad Johnson (remember he said he's change his name back if Darrelle Revis shut him down) will have the opportunity to dance and act a fool without Dictator Goodell throwing thousands of dollars worth of fines at him.

Also joining Ocho Cinco Johnson this season will be ESPN sideline reporter, and white woman of my dreams, Erin Andrews, fine ass singer Nicole Scherzinger, former Bay Watcher and sextaper Pamela Anderson, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, actors Shannen Doherty, Aiden Turner, and big booty Niecy Nash, and reality stars Kate Gosselin, and Jake Pavelka.

The new season starts March 22nd.

A Few Thoughts On The NBA Draft

NBA Draft Class of '09
Obviously I was too busy celebrating Michael Jackson's legacy to pay much attention to the NBA Draft.

First off, I see Blake Griffin didn't heed Bill Simmons advice and run for the hills and away from the Clippers. That's a decision he'll regret in a few years. Hasheem Thabeet too. Thabeet is destined to be Stromile Swift 2.0 lol.

Anyway, how does Ricky Rubio fall to #5?? Nobody needed a super-talented point guard?? Well Minnesota needed just that. In fact, they needed it so much that they picked a 2nd point guard after him in Jonny Flynn...and then a 3rd in Ty Lawson with the 18th pick (though they traded Lawson to Denver for a future pick). Not choosing Bill Simmons is working out great for the T'Wolves lol.

The Knicks can pretty much say goodbye to ANY chance that LeBron might come there to play in 2010 when they weren't able to get Stephen Curry at #8. Golden State wisely choose him 7th overall. Going back to the T'Wolves, if they were gonna picked 2 PGs back-to-back wouldn't it have made sense of the 2nd one to be Steph Curry?? Rubio can't shoot but he's a great passer and floor general and you could move Curry to SG and have him be like Iverson in '00-'01. But that would've made too much sense for Minny and they took two players that can't play at the same time lol.

I gotta feel bad for Jordan Hill because 1) he's going to the Knicks, 2) he got booed something crazy last night, and 3) he's going to the Knicks! Add Brandon Jennings to the list of players I feel bad for too because he goes from playing in L.A. to playing in Rome to playing in Milwaukee. Tough break nigga lol.

I don't care to go any further because any draft that has Tyler Hansbrough going 13th overall is obviously not worth the words. No disrespect to him, but if he's the 13th best player in your NBA draft class, that's not saying much. Then again, with MJ passing, it was appropriate that we had a weak draft class because now I don't feel bad for missing the draft lol.

Random News Shit: SportsCenter Edition

1) Hasheem Thabeet Enters NBA Draft
I like how J.A. put that, Hasheem truly is just a less hyped Greg Oden. That's not an insult either, that's probably better because he doesn't have to come in with all that pressure of turning a franchise around like Oden was. Welp, we'll see.

2) De La Hoya Retires
Following in the footsteps of Bow Wow (lol), Oscar De La Hoya is calling it quits. I still can't see him the same after those pics of him in lingerie came out a couple years ago lol.

3) Ray Allen Suspended One Game
This really doesn't matter because if you saw that game against Cleveland on Sunday you'd know the C's have packed it in and are just waiting for the playoffs.

4) Usain Bolt Apologizes For "Joint" Comments
I don't know why he's apologizing, its no military secret that Jamaicans smoke weed lol. Its not like he's American where you gotta be all PC and perfect. Now, I'm not saying he personally smokes weed, but we know a lot of Jamaicans do. Its cool man, its cool.

5) Josh Beckett Gets 6-Game Suspension For Throwing At Abreu
Well deserved because what he did was wrong and knows it. He'll only miss one or two starts though so its really not that big of a deal.
