Jay-Z Tops Forbes List Again

Surprise! Jay-Z made more money than anyone else in Hip-Hop over the last year. Hov topped the list with $37 million earned, followed by Diddy with $35 million earned, and a steep drop off to Kanye West at #3 with $16 million earned.

Check out the top 20 earners in Hip-Hop after the jump.

1) Jay-Z ($37 million)
2) Diddy ($35 million)
3) Kanye West ($16 million)
4) Lil Wayne ($15 million)
4) Birdman ($15 million)
6) Eminem ($14 million)
6) Snoop Dogg ($14 million)
6) Dr. Dre ($14 million)
9) Akon ($13 million)
10) Ludacris ($12 million)
11) Wiz Khalifa ($11 million)
11) Drake ($11 million)
13) Pharrell Williams ($10 million)
14) Timbaland ($7 million)
15) Swizz Beatz ($6.5 million)
15) Nicki Minaj ($6.5 million)
17) Rick Ross ($6 million)
17) 50 Cent ($6 million)
17) Pitbull ($6 million)
20) T-Pain ($5 million)
20) B.o.B ($5 million)

No Lil B? Damn, I thought I'm Gay was gonna change the game.

Besides Lil B's absence, another interesting thing about this list is how much records sales don't matter at all anymore. Eminem sold waaaaaaay more albums in the past year than anyone else on the list, but is only the 6th biggest earner, tied with Snoop Dogg (whose album flopped) and Dr. Dre (whose album is an ancient myth). Also, Nicki Minaj has sold nearly a million more albums than Wiz Khalifa in the past 12 months, but he made $11 million and she only made $6.5 million, just $500,000 more than Pitbull whose album was just recently released.

The lesson this list has taught us: Fuck album sales, tour, tour, and tour some more... or makes some crazy popular headphones (Dr. Dre)... or have Lady Gaga under contract (Akon).

Dr. Dre - Kush (feat. Snoop Dogg & Akon)

Kush
Look out for Detox?? Again, I'll believe it when I see it in stores.

Look, I have no idea if Detox is ever really coming out, but this track is straight heat. It's badly in need of the real Nate Dogg, but other than that, I have zero complaints.

Here's a little bonus from Eminem and the good doctor.

Sick, sick shit. I don't know if this is a leftover from Recovery or it'll be on this allegedly Detox album, but this joint is insane!

We have a new #1 on the Hot 100 this week and it's Far*East Movement's Like A G6. Now I've never heard this song, but I did hear this group was from L.A., so I'm sure it's wack. Quincy Jones & Akon - Strawberry Letter 23 Video

When this track first dropped a few months ago I was just starting my new job and was really busy, so by the time I got around to trying to download this track, all the links were dead. I didn't care enough to check it out, so this was actually my first time hearing it and I must say, very nice work. This track really saves Akon from himself by removing the super cheesy pop element from a regular Akon song. Hmm, maybe he should start re-making more classics?? On second though, naaaah.

(Side note: I really miss listening to the Strawberry Letter on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. That is all.)

Jay-Z Tops Forbes List Again

Cash King
Damn, the recession seems to be hitting everyone these days because even with a 57% decrease Jay-Z still remains Forbes' Cash King of 2009. Last year Hov made approximately $35 million while the year before he made $82. At the end of the day he's still rich as fuck so it doesn't really make a difference but I guess its still neat to look at. It actually just makes me depressed lol.

Check out the rest of the top 20 after the jump. Trust me, it'll surprise you.

1. Jay-Z ($35 millions)
2. Diddy ($30 millions)
3. Kanye West ($25 millions)
4t. 50 Cent ($20 millions)
4t. Akon ($20 millions)
6. Lil Wayne ($18 millions)
7. Timbaland ($17 millions)
8. Pharrell ($16 millions)
9. T-Pain ($15 millions)
10. Eminem ($14 millions)
11. Dr. Dre ($13 million)
12. Snoop Dogg ($11 million)
13. Ludacris ($10 million)
14t. Swizz Beatz ($8 million)
14t. T.I. ($8 million)
14t. will.i.am ($8 million)
14t. Common ($8 million)
18t. Big Boi ($7 millions)
18t. Andre 3000 ($7 millions)
20t. Young Jeezy, The Game, Rick Ross, and Flo Rida ($6 million)

Kanye made more than 50, Akon made the same as 50, and Common made the same as T.I.! That's all crazy! Not to mention Dr. Dre and Eminem cashing out big time after not really doing much last year and Pharrell making a killing with his Ice Cream line.

Ace Hood - Overtime (feat. T-Pain & Akon) Video

This isn't a bad song (it is kinda generic though) and I like him going in a positive direction, but first single?? You've got to be kidding. DJ Khaled must not want this nigga to succeed because this shit is definitely not first single caliber. Could you imagine hearing this on the radio the way shit is today?? Fuck no! Dead.

DJ Drama - Day Dreaming (feat. Akon, Snoop Dogg & T.I.) Video

Was that Bria Myles in the pink dress?? So fine! She should've been the main girl in the video lol. Anyway, I'm surprised this track isn't bigger down here as of yet. This type of shit is basically all they play on Power 96 (which is the main reason Right Round is the #1 single in the country right now), so it would make sense for them to play this in the ground. They usually play anything with Akon on it lol.

Welp, Gangsta Grillz: The Album II is scheduled to hit stores March 31st.

Busta Rhymes - Number One (feat. T.I. & Akon)

The B.O.M.B. drops Marh 24th!

Busta Rhymes - Number One (feat. T.I. & Akon) (Prod. By Cool-N-Dre)

Definitely a heater from Big Busta Rhymes! He and T.I. both did their thing on this shit and Cool-N-Dre did a decent job on the track. Akon was just Akon so you can take that however you want lol.

Anyway, I put 3 bonuses after the jump that you may, or may not have heard before. The first is a Twista tracked featuring Bust called Billionaire, the second is Lil Cease's new shit Talk Goes Through Us with Bust and Fab, and the last is another track from B.O.M.B. I never bother to post called Wack.

Twista - Billionaire (feat. Busta Rhymes)

Is it safe to say that Twista has completely fallen off yet??

Lil Cease - Talk Goes Through Us (feat. Fabolous & Busta Rhymes)

Pretty okay, it was better than that Twista shit above lol.

Busta Rhymes - Wack

The track title says it all. I'm joking, but yeah this track is okay, its more of an leftover if this is my project...but its not so who knows.

This Week In Flops 12/2/08

"Womanizer, woman-womanizer. You're a womanizer. Oh, womanizer, oh. You're a womanizer, baby!" That's that joint right there son! lol. Britney is back and I don't know what this project is gonna do. Her last album, 2007's Blackout, did 290,000 first week, but for some reason I don't see this one even doing that. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing 250k-285k, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it did close to 400k.

Speaking of not knowing where to go with a project, I am even more lose when it comes to Akon's. I know basically nothing about this shit, but its dropping today so I have to pick a number. Last go-round in 2006, Akon's second album did 284,000 in its first week, picked up steam, and had gone on to sell over 2.7 million copies. I'm not sure if Right Now (Na Na Na) or I'm So Paid have what it takes to build that kinda momentum, but then again if Smack That became a hit then anything is possible. I think I'll clock Kon somewhere between 175k-225k.

This is supposed to be Scarface's last project, but unfortunately it won't be rewarded with sales that say as much. This is fuckin' Scarface! What is going on in the world that one of the all-time greats is having a hard time garnering buzz for his last album?? I will say this though, if I hear ANY auto-tune on here I'll dip my dick in some anti-freeze. I'm gonna go with 30k-70k

I didn't even know this was coming out, but its O. Sparks so I figured I'd show it some love. It obviously isn't gonna do numbers, but its worth a shout out.

Flipmode TV Presents Busta Rhymes & Diddy vs T-Pain & Akon - Battle Of The Verse

Aight its time to catch up with all the stuff we missed over the past few days while I was away. First off I got this somewhat retarded video of the Arab Money Remix recording sessions.

How many people know this remix really ain't gonna be that hot stand up?? Wow! This seems like a lot about nothing, but we shall see soon enough. I haven't done any downloading since I've been back, but when I get it I'll be sure to pass it down.

R&B MuZik!

Justin Timberlake - Magic

Did nobody tell him that a white singer already made a song called Magic this year?? One at a time J.T. lol.

Anyway, this is okay, nothing special.

John Legend Feat. Bernie Mac & Samuel L Jackson - I'm Your Puppet

Damn man I still can't believe Bernie is gone. R.I.P. still, he's a legend.

T-Pain Feat. Akon & Kardinal Offishall - Can't Believe It (Konvict Remix)

Akon and Kardi didn't have to try very hard to out do what Wayne did on the original, but this remix doesn't really add anything to the record.

Usher - What They Gon Say

I ain't gonna lie, this shit was kinda wack lol. I'm guessing its a throw-away track from the last album.

Trey Song - Feelin' Like Money

Pretty straight. I guess it could bump in the whip.

The-Dream - So Real, So Fake

This joint has elements of a good record, but it ain't all the way there to me. I guess I could hear it getting a few spins on the radio if he went with it.

MuZik Pt. 2

Young Jeezy - Done It

Why wasn't this on the album?? Oh yeah, The Recession review coming soon.

Cassidy - Never Lie

This was very...average lol.

Charles Hamilton - Stay On Your Level

This shit was ALMOST on The Wackness Monday, but I decided to give the young boy a break. Just don't come with no wack hook like this again baby...just butchering a classic Jay-Z/Nas joint, fuck is wrong with this nigga?? lol.

Kardinal Offishall Feat. T-Pain - Go Home With You

T-Pain is on his shit right now because I definitely fuck with this hook! Kardi did his thing too and if you didn't know Not 4 Sale is out.

Akon - Over The Edge

I'm not a big Akon fan, but if he rolls with this joint I'm sure it'lll do well.

Pitbull Feat. Casely - Knock Me Down

I'm not just putting this song up because they said 954 at the beginning...okay, yes I am lol.
