Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven nabs a 4th week atop the Hot 100, and PSY's Gangnam Style (19-6) re-enters the top 10.

Thursday Billboard Update - 11/15/12

Taylor Swift's Red remains at #1 for a 3rd straight week with another 196,200 copies sold. Ne-Yo's R.E.D. debuts at #4 with just 66,100 copies sold. I guess this is what happens when R&B artists stop making R&B music. Meek Mill's Dreams & Nightmares falls to #8 in its 2nd week with 41,100 sold. Lastly, Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d. city slides to #9 with 40,100 copies sold.

Maroon 5's One More Night ties Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe for longest streak atop the Hot 100 in 2012 9 weeks. Putting the pressure on Maroon 5 is Rihanna's Diamonds, which rises to #2 and replaces Psy's Gangnam Style (2-5). Entering the top 10 is Flo Rida's I Cry (12-10).

Thursday Billboard Update - 11/1/12

Easily debuting at #1 with a whooping 1.208 million albums sold is Taylor Swift's Red. Not only is that enough to already be the 3rd highest selling album of 2012 behind only Adele's 21 (4.114 million) and One Direction's Up All Night (1.316 million), but it's also the most albums sold in a first week since Eminem's The Eminem Show (1.322 million) in 2002. Oh, and that's without the sneaky low pricing trick on Amazon like Lady Gaga (the lowest Red was sold for was $9.99). Dominance.

In other Billboard 200 news, Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d. city checks in at #2 with 241,000. I'm mad they didn't give Kendrick his own week because Taylor Swift's crazy numbers completely overshadowed what would normally be an incredible #1 debut.

For the 6th straight week Maroon 5's One More Night and Psy's Gangnam Style are #1 and #2 on the Hot 100. Leaping into the top 10 this week are Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven (15-7) and Chris Brown's Don't Wake Me Up (11-10).

Thursday Billboard Update - 7/26/12

As it turns out, life actually is good for Nas as his new album Life Is Good debuts at #1 with 149,000. Good to see Hip-Hop back on top.

Sadly, it's back to a lot of nothing on the Hot 100 this week.

Now give me a moment to highlight the random hypocrisy of Billboard. This week Frank Ocean's Channel Orange fell to #4 with 54,000 sold in its 2nd week, but those numbers don't include sales from Amazon because they sold it for $2.99 this past week. Billboard is alleging that it's their policy to disallow sales to count toward chart placement if the album is sold below its $3.49 minimum in the first 4 weeks of release. Wait, what? Just last June Lady Gaga's Born This Way set a then record for largest percentage sales drop in Billboard history. Born This Way fell 84.27% in its 2nd week largely because its first week sales were artificially enhanced by Amazon offering it for just 99¢ at times during the first week. So when Amazon sold Lady Gaga's album for 99¢ in its first week it was okay, but when they sold Frank Ocean's for $2.99 in its second week, all of a sudden there's a Billboard policy that says its not allowed? I call bullshit, unless they changed the policy immediately after the Lady Gaga debacle.

Thursday Billboard Update - 7/19/12

Frank Ocean's Channel Orange debuts at #2 with 131,000 sold, just behind the Zac Brown Band's Uncaged with 153,000 sold. Frank Ocean's sells mostly came from iTunes, as his physical CD only sold about 3,000 copies. If his newfound fans were looking for a place to direct their anger, Amazon would be that place because they offered the Zac Brown Band's album for only $3.99 all week, which helped them surpass Frank for the #1 spot. Just putting it out there.

The big news on the Hot 100 is P!nk's Blow Me (One Last Kiss) soaring 58-9 in it's 2nd week on the charts. Also entering the top 10 is Flo Rida's Whistle, which rises 5 spots 12-7.

Thursday Billboard Update - 2/16/12

And for a 20th non-consective week, 6-time Grammy award winning singer Adele's 21 is at #1. Whitney Houston's Whitney: The Greatest Hits sells 64,000 copies and re-enters the Billboard 200 at #6 due to a 10,419% sales gain since she passed Saturday. I guess it was only Michael Jackson that Billboard wanted to shit on with their bum ass "catalog albums" rule. (If you remember back in 2009 when MJ died he dominated sales, but Billboard said his albums were considered "catalog albums" and weren't eligible for the Billboard 200 because they were over 18-months old and below #100. Fortunately, this rule somehow didn't apply to Whitney, whose greatest hits album dropped May 16th, 2000.)

Kelly Clarkson's Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) remains #1 for a 2nd week, and then things start getting crazy. Soaring 41-3 after their Chevrolet Super Bowl ad is fun.'s We Are Young featuring Janelle Monae. Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You (which was #1 for 14 weeks back in 1992) re-enters the Hot 100 at #7 thanks largely to a 6,723% sales increase since Saturday. Madonna extends her lead for the most top 10s in Hot 100 history (she now has 38, the Beatles are the next closest with 34, followed by Michael Jackson with 28) as Give Me All Your Luvin featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. moves up 3 spots 13-10.

I love when these XXL cover come out, it's like the local rapper renaissance. The internet is flooding right now with local rappers no one has ever heard of saying they should've been on the cover over [insert rapper who made the cover]. It's sad, but it's funny as fuck lol.

Anyway, I'm fine with the cover this year with the exception of Lil Twist. I mean, not only doesn't he fit on the cover (he looks like he just Lil Mama'd this issue and jumped in the background), but he doesn't fit on this cover. He's the one with no buzz. I heard this track before, but I had no idea it was that serious that needed a video for it lol. Oh well here we go lol.



Everybody ripped it (except Peedi lol), but I have a hard time taking Gillie seriously after reading this shit. I still don't know if its true or not but its just fuckin' with my head every time I see him now lol.
