NBA Announces All-Defensive Teams

Here's the NBA All-Defensive First Team: LeBron James (24 first place votes), Serge Ibaka (20), Dwight Howard (16), Chris Paul (13), and Tony Allen (13). Second Team: Kevin Garnett (8), Luol Deng (6), Tyson Chandler (13), Rajon Rondo (9), and Kobe Bryant (7).

Now you may be thinking, "How does Defensive Player of the Year, Tyson Chandler not make the First Team?" That's a fair question, but the answer is that coaches vote on the All-NBA teams, while media members vote for the individual awards (MVP, DPoY, etc.). I guess the coaches just didn't fear Chandler defensively as much as they feared Dwight Howard.

Honestly, I have no problem with this because I don't think Chandler should've won Defensive Player of the Year in the first place. Since when did being the best defensive player on a shitty defensive team make you the league's best? Chandler winning the award was actually a mini travesty, if you ask me. Serge Ibaka lead the league in blocks by over a block and a half per game! On the other hand, Chandler (89) only had 4 more total blocks than Greg Stiemsma (85)! Greg Stiemsma! Stiemsma only played in 55 games and started just 3. Again, he only had 4 less blocks than Chandler on the season.

Of course blocks aren't the only thing that matters, but I'm just saying, Tyson Chandler wasn't the best player in the NBA this season, in my opinion.

(Side note: Who in the hell gave Carlos Boozer a vote for the All-Defensive team? That coach should have his vote taken away.)

2012 NBA All-Star Starters Announced

There they are, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade, and Derrick Rose for the East, and Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Andrew Bynum, Kobe Bryant, and Chris Paul for the West.

The first, and most obvious, snub is Kevin Love. I mean, all Big Love has done this year is average 25.3 points a game (4th in the NBA behind Kobe, LeBron, and Durant) and 13.6 rebounds a game (2nd in the NBA). Don't get me wrong, I totally get why Blake Griffin got the nod, but it's a shame someone can put together those type of numbers and not start in the All-Star game.

I'm fine with the rest, thought I wouldn't have been mad if Bosh started over Carmelo.

Chris Paul Finally Traded To The Clippers

Check out this picture of Chris Paul fleeing New Orleans for L.A. and Blake Griffin, doesn't he look ecstatic? (Okay, okay, that's not really a picture of CP3 headed to Cali on foot, but it sure it fun to pretend like it is.)

Anyway, as you've all heard by now, the Hornets and Clippers came to an agreement to send Chris Paul to L.A. in exchange for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Minnesota's 2012 first-round draft pick. Not a bad haul for the owner-less Hornets.

Now, I'm not quite sure how this is a better deal than the one that would've sent him to the Lakers, but at least David Stern could veto this trade at any minute.

Baller Blocked: Chris Paul Traded, Then Untraded To The Lakers

Poor Chris Paul.

Question: If it's not fair for New Orleans to trade their best player to the Lakers, will it be fair when said best player leaves in free agency 7 months from now and New Orleans gets nothing in return for him?

This whole situation is fucked.

2011 NBA All-Star Starters Announced

Kobe
West | East
Yao Ming C Dwight Howard
Carmelo Anthony F Amare Stoudemire
Kevin Durant F LeBron James
Kobe Bryant G Dwyane Wade
Chris Paul G Derrick Rose

No real surprises (especially on the East) but I did totally forget about Yao Ming. To be fair, the guy only played 5 games and shouldn't even have been on the ballot in the first place, so me forgetting him shouldn't be held against me.

Anyway, Kobe got the most votes overall with 2,380,016, and Dwight Howard came in 2nd with 2,099,204. Coming in 3rd with 2,053,011 votes? LeBron James. People sure do hate that guy, I tell ya. Another funny thing in the voting is that Jamal Crawford (246,130) actually got more votes than teammate Joe Johnson (224,571). $119 million well spent.

The reserves will be announced next Thursday (February 3rd) on TNT.

Random News Shit: NBA Headlines

NEW ORLEANS - MARCH 24: LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers talks with Chris Paul #3 of the New Orleans Hornets at the New Orleans Arena on March 24, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Cavaliers defeated the Hornets 105-92. v.
1) Chris Paul Wants Out Of New Orleans
Welp Cleveland y'all can give all LeBron jersey burning and hate speech a rest for a second and deflect your anger at a new target: Chris Paul. If he had made this trade request weeks ago, Dan Gilbert and everything to get him in Cleveland and maybe LeBron stays. As great as his situation is now with the Heat, I'm sure potentially landing CP3 would've at least made him think harder about his "decision." So yeah, Cleveland, be mad at Chris Paul for asking for a trade this late in the summer.

Anyhow, I fully expect there to be no trade. Chris has little, to no, leverage with 2 years still remaining on his contract. But even if N.O. did want to trade him, he doesn't have a no-trade clause, so they could essentially send him to Toronto or Minnesota if they wanted to. I don't think they'd do that to him though, so my guess is he'll sit his ass right there and play out his contract the next 2 years.

2) Matt Barnes Signs With Lakers
Another new team for "Basketball Husband" Matt Barnes this year. This is Matt's 7th team in 7 years, he's like the Latino Jim Jackson. And at this rate he can coast to surpassing Jimmy's 12 teams (13 if you count the Hornets whom he was traded to but never played a game for) in 14 seasons mark.

Now Matt tweeted the news himself, but when he arrives L.A. he's gonna have to change that @Matt_Barnes22 Twitter handle because he won't be wearing that number for the Lakers. Twenty-two was Elgin Baylor's number and it's retired up in the rafters.

(Side note: Can we skip the regular season and go straight to the Heat-Lakers NBA Finals?? This match-up gets more and more intriguing by the day.)

3) Wife Of Bobcats' Stephen Jackson Robbed In North Carolina Home
Man, you hate to hear stories like this. It obviously could've been much worse, and that goodness it wasn't, but it must be a very vulnerable and infuriating situation for Stephen Jackson. Well at least his wife is alright.

4) Allan Houston Front-Runner For Knicks GM
And people actually thought LeBron James was coming to play for them?? Hilarious! Welp, this is better than the rumor they were bringing back Isiah Thomas lol.

Kobe's No. 24 Jersey Back At #1

When Kobe changed his number from 8 to 24 in 2007 his jersey was the number 1 seller, but in 2008 Kevin Garnett's Boston Celtics No. 5 bumped him. Now its 2009 and Kobe is back on top of thangs, knocking K.G. to #2. I can't really say I'm surprised because not only are the Lakers playing some great basketball right now, but their white jerseys are sick. I don't even wear jerseys anymore, but if I did I'd get a white Kobe. I guarantee you that if they tracked the colors sold the white joints would be #1 with the purple aways being #2 and the gold home ones coming in last. I mean ever since NBA Live 2003 I've played with the Lakers solely so I could rock the white jerseys on the game lol.

Anyway, check out the top 10 after the jump. I'm almost positive you'd be surprised when you see it. Oh, and the All-Star reserves are gonna be announced tomorrow night on TNT so tune in and come back later to see my reaction.

1) Kobe Bryant
2) Kevin Garnett
3) LeBron James
4) Chris Paul
5) Allen Iverson
6) Pau Gasol
7) Paul Pierce
8) Dwyane Wade
9) Derrick Rose
10) Nate Robinson

Really?? Nate Robinson made the list?? Then again, if you like the Knicks, who else's jersey are you gonna buy?? lol. I also can't believe Pau Gasol is all the way up to #6! I'm telling you, its those white Laker jerseys. Next year Bynum will probably be up there too. Lastly, how did D-Wade drop to #8?? Fucked up lol.

All-Star Starters Announced; Howard Sets New Record

Never in the history of fan voting for NBA All-Star games has one player surpassed 3 million votes. Not Jordan, not LeBron, not Shaq, not Yao. Well in 2009 Dwight Howard did just that finishing with a record 3,150,181 votes! That Superman shit last year did wonders lol. Before this year the most votes ever received was 2,558,278 by Yao in 2005. And not only did Dwight break Yao's record, but so did LeBron (2,940,823), Kobe (2,805,397), D-Wade (2,741,413), and Tim Duncan (2,578,168). I don't know if the NBA All-Star game is just more relevant than ever, but whatever the case you know David Stern is somewhere poppin' bottles lol.

Anyway, here are the starters:

East:
C - Dwight Howard
F - Kevin Garnett
F - LeBron James
G - Dwyane Wade
G - Allen Iverson

West:
C - Yao Ming
F - Tim Duncan
F - Amare Stoudamire
G - Kobe Bryant
G - Chris Paul

Arenas Worth More Than Paul??

Both of these brothas got PAID so I'm not mad at either, I'm just asking a question. Is Gilbert Arenas worth more than Chris Paul?? Arenas just signed a new 6-year deal worth $111 million and Paul signed a 4-year extension worth $68 million. Something just looks off about those figures to me. Yeah I know the difference is only about $1.5 million a year, but isn't it just kinda weird that Gillie is making more than CP3?? Oh well I like both of them so its all good, I'm just sayin'.

Welp, hopefully Hibachi can stay healthy this year...hmm, maybe that's why they didn't give him the $127 million deal we heard about earlier?? Oh well, as Gilbert said himself: "What can I do for my family with $127 million that I can't do with $111 million?" lol.
