Derrick Williams vs. Paul George vs. Iman Shumpert vs. Chase Budinger. I know you're excited!
Seriously, this line-up has to be the worst thing to happen to the Dunk Contest since that retarded wheel shit in 2002. And really, Chase Budinger? He very well might be the whitest person to ever participate in the Slam Dunk Contest. The NBA couldn't outsource and get Jacob Tucker and/or Terrico White to be in the Dunk Contest? At least we know what they can do.
I don't know, it could turn out to be a great Dunk Contest, but I won't come in with my usual excitement. Then again, maybe that's a good thing? Usually we're all amped and it slightly disappoints. This year no one will be expecting anything. Oh well, we'll see next weekend.
2) Rising Stars Line-Ups Picked
Is it the NBA's goal to fuck with the Rookie game every time there's a lockout? This game used to only be for rookies, then the '99 lockout happened and it become the Rookies vs. Sophomores. Now after the 2011 lockout, they've changed it to the Rising Stars Challenge where there's a field of rookies and sophomores that get drafted onto teams. If we've learned anything from the 2002 Dunk Contest wheel tragedy, it's that the NBA should stop fucking with their All-Star Weekend events.
Issue #2 with this event: Why are the teams lazily named "Team Shaq" and "Team Chuck"? They couldn't have had them come out with cool names like you would for your fantasy football team? Is it a must that we keep retarding our creativity by naming teams "Team [insert name of whoever's team it is]"?? Getting uniforms with the crazy team names should be the biggest problem, but even that could be solved by just letting them wear their team uniforms like they've done it the past.I just don't get it.
Anyway, Shaq's team is Blake Griffin, Jeremy Lin, Ricky Rubio, Markieff Morris, Kemba Walker, Landry Fields, Norris Cole, Brandon Knight, Tristan Thompson, and Greg Monroe. Chuck's team is Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Williams, Paul George, MarShon Brooks, John Wall, Tiago Splitter, Evan Turner, Gordon Heyward, and Kawhi Leonard. My only question is how in the heck did the 2010 #1 overall draft pick, John Wall, fall to the 12th pick in this draft?? Did they forget how he and DeMarcus Cousins dominated this game last year?
And with that being said, I've got to give the edge to Chuck's squad, though I will be rooting for Shaq's because he has the Heat's Norris Cole, Ft. Lauderdale's Brandon Knight, and the media's Linsanity. Oh yeah, and then there's these guys Blake Griffin and Ricky Rubio. That combo is a highlight reel waiting to happen.
3) J.R. Smith To Join The Knicks
This is great news for Eastern Conference teams because I can't think of anything the Knicks needed more than another high volume shooter that will take shots away from Jeremy Lin. Sweet!
4) Seattle Announces Plans For New Sports Arena
Too this won't bring them their Super Sonics. I mean, it could bring back they're name and uniforms, but it wouldn't bring back their actual team. You know, the one starring Kevin Durant that was stolen a few years back? Yeah, that team. If anything, they'll have to start from scratch like when the Cleveland Browns came back and watch their actual team ball out elsewhere. Bad times.
