FiyahMuZik's Midseason Awards

MVP: Clinton Portis, WAS
My first thought for mid-season MVP was Drew Brees because of his astromical numbers, but his Saints are just 4-4. Granted, 2 of those losses can be put squarely on the leg of Martin Gramatica who blew 2 games for them (week 3 at Denver and week 5 against Minnesota).

Anyway, I landed on Clinton Portis because after 9 games in the NFC East he's already on pace
for a career year. Even after only rushing for 51 yard Monday night against the Steelers, he's still 172 yards ahead #2 (and that's after #2, Adrian Peterson, rushed for 139 yards). And speaking of that game Monday, you see how ineffective the Redskins are when Portis isn't running well?? They wouldn't have 6 wins this season with Portis so he's my mid-season MVP.

Runner Up: Drew Brees, N.O.

Offensive Player Of The Year: Drew Brees, N.O.
It was out of either he or Kurt Warner, but I gotta give it to Brees because Warner is playing in a cupcake division. After 8 games Brees has 2,563 passing yards and 15 TDs while completing 69.1% of his passes. Don't forget that this is all without his #1 receiver Marques Colston for a majority of the season.

Runner Up: Kurt Warner, ARI

Defensive Player Of The Year: Albert Haynesworth, TEN
The Titans are 8-0 with Kerry Collins at QB. Need I say more?? Albert Haynesworth is fuckin' beast in the middle and usually takes out 2 O linemen at once. He's unblockable and my pick for mid-season defensive player of the year.

Runner Up: Joey Porter, MIA

Rookie Of The Year: Matt Ryan
This man has Atlanta like "Michael Vick who??" Right now. Its crazy! He's definitely playing at a level we rarely see out of rookies, especially at the quarterback position. I can name plenty of teams that could use 208 yards a game and just 5 INTs out of their QB.

Runner Up: Chris Johnson, TEN

Coach Of The Year: Jeff Fisher, TEN
Again, they're 8-0 with Kerry Collins at QB! Enough said.

Biggest Surprise: Miami Dolphins
After going 1-15 last year (and BARELY getting the one win they did get), nobody thought after 8 games the Dolphins would have 4 wins and/or a realistic shot at making the playoffs. I guess Bill Parcells does make that big of a difference.

Runner Up: Atlanta Falcons

Biggest Disappointment: Jacksonville Jaguars
I would've went with the Colts, but losing to the winless Bengals was the final straw. I know they have a depleted O-line, but come on! You guys won 11 games last year.

Runner Up: Indianapolis Colts
