(Note: the picture above is not when Cutler broke his thumb, I just added it for dramatic effect.)
Man, thing just keep getting better and better for my Dallas Cowboys. First Graham Gano misses a field goal and we pull off an overtime win to bring us to 6-4, then Vince Young takes out the Giants to bring them down to 6-4 and us in a tie for first in the NFC East, and now Jay Cutler is likely done for the year which increases the Cowboys' chance of making the playoffs, even if we don't win our division. Good times.
In all seriousness, you hate to see this happen right as Cutler was playing the best football of his career, in my opinion. If anybody was going to knock off the Packers, I thought it was going to be Cutler and the Bears, because Aaron Rodgers tends to struggle against their defense. Now the Bears have to pray Caleb Hanie's play in the NFC Championship game last season wasn't a fluke. Bad times.
And now for the question of the hour: Can the Bears still make the playoffs without Jay Cutler? *Drum roll* I say yes. The Bears are 7-3, and their remaining schedule is @Oakland, vs. Kansas City, @Denver, vs. Seattle, @Green Bay, and @Minnesota. All they're going to need is 3, maybe 4 wins to get in, and that isn't the toughest schedule ever. Caleb Hanie would have to come in and be an unholy combination of John Beck and Curtis Painter for the Bears to not get to 10-11 wins with that defense and special teams.
